I’ve been a science communicator ever since I wrote an essay in 5th grade about giraffes. These days, I’m doing more than just regurgitating what I learned in Zoobooks: I’m a cartoonist, writer, and editor, doing my best to spread the joy and excitement of the natural world. Throughout my career I have reported, edited, and/or made comics for Gizmodo, Knowable Magazine, Science News Explores (formerly Science News for Students), the American Geophysical Union, and NASA’s Planetary Science Division.
I am currently a media relations specialist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a Department of Energy lab in SE Washington. I write about renewable energy, grid, sustainable/energy efficient buildings, and more (if you’re a journalist looking for a source, get in touch!). In my free time, I make science comics for Science News Explores, which I won a Kavli Science Writing Award for in 2022! If you’d like to commission me for an illustration or science comic, please use the “contact” form on this site. It goes straight to my email inbox!
When I’m not talking, writing, or drawing cartoons about science, I’m probably in a forest, dipping my toes in a creek, or hanging out in my apartment with my cat, Pancake.
